Out and about in the blogosphere and saw this interesting concept about taking web content in the public domain, images or whatever and remixing them or as the site described, shapeshift it into a new form and profiting from it.  I’ve also noticed that there are now ebooks being sold about profiting from the public domain as if anyone really needed this.  A remix was made of the old sitting bull photo which was posted as a public domain image – whether it’s actually in the public domain or not is not something I’m personally aware of although I’m willing to take their word for it.  You’d have to check for yourself – I’m using it under the concept of “fair use,” as I’m actually posting a review of another site here.

And so, as you can see from the dozen samples above, it’s pretty easy to shapeshift just about ANY text content from the Public Domain into a new form…whether free or as a money-making product. The same is true for images . …

More free grunge textures in our public domain image gallery.

Here, I’m just playing around with one of the free grunge textures recently released into the public domain.  The moss and rock texture was warmed up in Adobe Camera Raw, given several layers of selective color, curves, switched to lab color mode and the corners burned for a unique grunge texture from an ordinary photograph.  This photoshop texture is really pretty easy to do and there are about a million different ways to create a unique grunge texture from a photograph.  Any texture could be made into a photoshop brush to easily apply it with the unique colors required for your design project.  anyhow, here’s an other free grunge texture placed in the public domain.  Enjoy!  Click image for full size.

This is a Samsung Rant in very good condition, originally purchased in May, 2009 but we no longer use Sprint as our phone provider.  This Rant has a built in camera, QWERTY keyboard and comes with original phone charger.  We’ve currently got this phone listed for auction on eBay but will consider any offers through this site – will take paypal payment.  (BTW, these photos are hereby placed in the public domain so use them if you want.)

This is a vintage H.H. Heiser holster and gunbelt. Heiser is a premier leather goods manufacturer in Denver Colorado and this specimen has the oval shaped logo which was used by Heiser between the 1930’s and the 1950’s. This is a well used piece of Western Americana and has indications of some damage which could be restored. This collector’s item is currently listed on eBay and you can view our auction there or make us an offer right now – we take paypal. See photos below.

I took one of the free grunge textures to show potential use for these photos I put in the public domain. Of course, the possibilities are endless. Just so you know – public domain photos = royalty free stock photos.

Yesterday I went out to find the dirtiest, grungiest, grittiest and nastiest textures I could find. This is a collection of 50 free grunge textures including stone, brick, granite, marble, moss, lichen, calcium deposits, dirt, striation, and grit. These photographs of textures are being released into the public domain by me so you can use them for anything you want. It did take me some time and some bandwidth to handle these images so if you use them, please leave me a link.
