Out and about in the blogosphere and saw this interesting concept about taking web content in the public domain, images or whatever and remixing them or as the site described, shapeshift it into a new form and profiting from it. Â I’ve also noticed that there are now ebooks being sold about profiting from the public domain as if anyone really needed this. Â A remix was made of the old sitting bull photo which was posted as a public domain image – whether it’s actually in the public domain or not is not something I’m personally aware of although I’m willing to take their word for it. Â You’d have to check for yourself – I’m using it under the concept of “fair use,” as I’m actually posting a review of another site here.
And so, as you can see from the dozen samples above, it’s pretty easy to shapeshift just about ANY text content from the Public Domain into a new form…whether free or as a money-making product. The same is true for images . …
